Biorefinery Conference 2012

The Organizing Committee (Bio4Bio - Centre for the development and implementation of biotechnology for bioenergy), University of Copenhagen and IEA Bioenergy Tasks 39 and 42 would like to welcome you to Copenhagen, Denmark, for the conference Advanced Biofuels in a Biorefinery Approach

The conference will cover the latest developments in advanced biofuels and biorefinery technology, with a special focus on biology/biotechnology, infrastructure, integration of technologies and deployment/commercialization. The conference is coordinated with meetings in the two IEA Bioenergy networks Task 39 (Commercializing liquid biofuels from biomass) and Task 42 (Biorefineries) and there will be dedicated sessions for the IEA Bioenergy networks. Essential for the conference is to have a balanced mix of academic and industrial representation thereby providing an update on developments and status all the way from lab to deployment and commercialization.

Within the Copenhagen region you will find some of the major sites for industrial biotechnology and demo-scale refining of biomass to fuels and chemicals, and excursions to some of these sites is part of the conference program.

The conference will comprise 2 plenary sessions, 10 parallel sessions and an evening poster session to provide a comprehensive update on latest scientific discoveries and an industrial update and perspective on feedstock, processing and deployment of biorefinery technologies.

Meeting Program
The program provides you with an excellent opportunity to get a full update on advanced biofuels production including these topics:

  • Plants for a Future Biorefinery incl. molecular breeding and synthetic biology
  • Feedstock Production for Biorefieries - Linking Eco System Services with Energy Service Demands
  • Biomass Processing to Fuels, Chemicals and Materials
  • Biorefinery Technologies
  • Going from Lab to Large Scale - commercialising technologies
